On August 28 and 29, the U10B Sonoma Wildcats missed making the Final by 1 goal at the El Dorado Hills Kick-Off Classic, where they would have once again faced the Santa Rosa Laguna Diablos, a team they defeated 2 weeks earlier in Ft. Bragg to take home the Skunk Classic Championship. As it turned out, the Wildcats managed to win the Consolation Game, taking 3d place, while the Diablos went on to win the Championship, defeating the Eureka Extreme who had earlier turned back the Wildcats' championship bid in a close 3-2 match.
The Wildcat players, coaches and families were honored at the end of the Tournament with the presentation of the Chuk Odorfer Sportmanship Trophy by Tournament Director Rich Spevak to the Wildcats' Head Coach, Rick Hicks. |

The Sonoma Wildcats, SVYSA's Under 10 Boys Division 3 Team, took first place in their age division at the Division 3 Skunk Classic held in Fort Bragg on August 14 and 15. In Fort Bragg, the Wildcats showed the results of tough but valuable lessons learned the week before at the Novato Classic which had featured some Division 1 teams.
On Saturday, the Wildcats defeated the Santa Rosa Tornadoes 2-1, and then began to show their potential in a very physical and hard-fought 2-3 loss to the Santa Rosa Laguna Diablos. On Sunday, the Wildcats defeated OneLove FC of Mendocino 5-0 and the Wesco Wildcats 2-0, which earned them a berth in the Final based on points, which pitted them once again against the Diablos. The Final was every bit as intense and physical as the first match with the Diablos, but this time the Wildcats prevailed 2-0 to take the Championship based on a stellar defensive performance.
The Wildcats' 13 goals during the tournament were spread among 6 different players, with 9 assists.
