Games begin Aug. 23 this year. Some games may be played on Labor Day weekend. Picture
days are Aug. 23 & 24. Team parents will have information on times and forms. U6 have an 8 game season (with reduced registration fee). U8 and older have a 10 game season with most games played on Saturdays and some on Sundays. Recreational play is not scheduled on Halloween weekend as we hold a 48 team tournament for the travel teams. This is a good time to watch great soccer! There is an end of season Valley Cup Tournament for the U10s and older age groups. Written refund requests must be received by the Registrar at POB 1992, Sonoma, CA
95476 or emailed to registrar@sonomasoccer.org before August 25. All but the insurance and data processing fee and any late fee or finance charge will be returned. If you register on-line, you have to, as this is how we will communicate back to you about
various documents needed, etc. If you do not have an email address, please come to the walk-in registration sessions. Details on-line, in the newspapers, and at the schools. Fill out a scholarship request form, either at a walk-in registration session or from our
web site. We will examine the details and determine whether we are willing to offer a scholarship for your player. If you are at a walk-in session and we can process it on the spot, you may only have to pay a reduced fee to complete the application process. If we cannot process it immediately, for example if you are applying on-line and mailing in the completed form, we will hold your registration in limbo until we clarify the amount owed and receive a check from you. Please note that we do not have scholarships to cover uniforms, photos, and other miscellaneous team fees, like coach gifts, etc. Some older teams also participate in tournaments, which will add additional costs to your soccer experience. Volunteer your time. Become a coach, or a referee. Assist with registration nights,
fundraising or tournaments, or become a board member. Email volunteercoordinator@sonomasoccer.org to find out what needs to be done. It takes a lot of work to keep the league going and we welcome a fresh perspective. Volunteer to coach. You'll probably find you have as much fun as the kids. And if you or
another parent does not volunteer, the team may have to dissolve. SVYSA holds coaching clinics each season, where you can learn all you need. Email us at coachingcoordinator@sonomasoccer.org and let us know you are interested. Under 6 and 8 wear a maroon and white reversible jersey, white shorts (no snap or zipper),
shin guards (worn under socks) and soccer cleats. You will find these at Sonoma Sports, other sports supply stores in town and sometimes at the second hand shops. If you have trouble with the uniform purchase, talk to your coach or Age Group Coordinator. Under 10s wear a light blue and white reversible jersey with black shorts and socks. Older teams choose their own colors (which may include U10 colors). NO JEWLERY WILL BE PERMITTED ON THE FIELD DURING PRACTICE OR GAMES. TAPING OF NEWLY PIERCED EARS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. SVYSA will not be collecting a volunteer deposit fee this year. We have raised the
registration fees to cover the costs of hiring personnel to complete many of those jobs for us. Competitive teams (Division 1 and Division 3) are formed in April based on the results of
open try-outs. These players are informed within days and have their teams listed on the web site. Everyone who did not purposely attend a try-out session in April is automatically placed in Division 4 (Recreational soccer). Their coaches will get their rosters with your names and phone numbers in the middle of July. If you have not heard from a coach by July 23, please email registrar@sonomasoccer.org. Tell us your name, your player's name, age of player, and an email address where you can be reached. Use our web site: www.sonomasoccer.org. You may email the league President, Registrar,
Age Group Coordinators or any Board members through the web site. You may also call our hotline, 707-256-0544, or your coach or your age group coordinator (AGC) for information, or write the Board of Directors at PO Box 1992, Sonoma, 95476. Division 4 (Recreational) teams are formed to be as fair as possible and to promote the
objective of fun for all the players. We use a system that takes into account age of player, number of seasons played and skill level. Not in Division 4 (Recreational). All Division 4 teams are created to be fair and equal and
each child is assigned based on the criteria listed above. With the U6 and U8 age groups we will do our best to place school friends and siblings on the same teams and allow player transfers due to carpool or convenience issues. But we do not honor requests for a certain coach, as allowing some teams to remain intact this way can cause those teams to be stronger than others. Our teams are intended to be FUN for everyone. However, if you are interested in a competitive soccer experience for your child where you do know the coach before trying out for a team, we recommend your child try out for the Division 3 (traveling, competitive) or Division 1 (most competitive) teams which we offer. See our web site www.sonomasoccer.org for details.
