Directors Present (11): Lynn Abaté-Johnson, Jean-François Ducarroz, Vikki Griggs-Demmin, Rick Hicks, Sam Honey, Teri Miller, Dino Rossini, Jim Van Sickle, Mike Verdu, Phylis Wakefield, Edwin Richards. Not present: Antonio Alvarez, Karen Cline, Stacey Schoeningh, Deidre Verdu.

The board met to learn the Select Committee’s recommendations for some of the Select Team Coaching positions.

Jim and Dino, the co-chairs of the Select Committee had prepared a spreadsheet which listed the names of the proposed coaches, in addition to showing which license the coach needed to obtain this year and other information. Jim and Dino went down the list explaining why the Committee thought the candidates were appropriate. There was an opportunity for questions. Only one position had more than one applicant (U14G). Some coaches needed to obtain licenses and attend the referee class. Jim and Dino gave assurances that the candidates had committed to do this.

The positions and candidates to be voted on were as follows:

U10G D3 Head Coach Andre Maillard
U10G D3 Assistant Coach Dan Sondheim

U12G D3 Co-Head Coach Tanya Marie Noujaim
U12G D3 Co-Head Coach Anita Straube
(These two due to meet 2.26.09 to make sure they can work together.)

U14G D3 Head Coach Mike Verdu

U10B D3 Head Coach Greg Volker

U11B D3 Head Coach Rick Hicks

U11B D3 Assistant Coach Jaime Evans

U12B D3 Co-Head Coach Brandon Hronec
U12B D3 Co-Head Coach Vince Dito

U14B D3 Head Coach Gerard Serafini

Jim proposed that the board vote to accept the recommendations of the Select Committee. Vikki seconded. Carried unanimously.
The meeting adjourned at 7.30 p.m.

Email Vote

N.B. There was an email vote, the results of which were announced on 02/20/09. The ballot was:

Vote 1: To approve a D1 U13 Girls team

Vote 2: To approve Jean-Francois Ducarroz as Coach and Scott Walthard as Assistant Coach for the D1 U13 G Team

Vote 3: To approve a D1 U13 Boys team.

Vote 4: To approve Jim Van Sickle and Dino Rossini as Co-Coaches of the D1 U13 B team.

These votes needed to be made in advance of the 2/25/09 meeting to enable the Select Committee to advertise early for D1 players. President Sam Honey organized the vote and announced on Friday 02/20/09 that there had been 12 “Yes to all” votes and no “no” votes or abstentions. Consequently there will be a U13G D1 team and a U13B D1 team, with coaches as follows:

U13B D1 Co-Head Dino Rossini
U13B D1 Co-Head Jim Van Sickle
