"Playing Up" For Division 3 and Division 1 try-outs, each player may choose to try out for an older age group, whether or not he or she tries out for his or her actual age group. Coach's Term A Division 3 and Division 1 Coaching Term will be through the Association/State Cup, with a possible extension to play in tournaments after the Cups, up until the date of the try-outs for the following year's team. This extension is not automatic and will only be granted with express permission from the Sonoma Soccer Club. Licensing and Classes Required The Sonoma Soccer Club has stipulated that Division 3 and Division 1 coaches for the 2008/09 season must acquire a CYSA E License. NSCAA or other "equivalent" licenses do not satisfy this requirement. Sonoma Soccer Club has stipulated that Division 3 and Division 1 coaches for the 2008/09 season will be required to hold a Grade 8 referee License. Truthfulness and False Promises In recruiting players and their families, a coach shall at all times maintain the highest standards of truthfulness, honesty and ethics. A coach shall not make any promise or guarantee to any player or his or her family, shall not offer a financial incentive, shall not offer a spot on the team before tryouts, and shall not make any statement that is false or misleading in any way. A coach shall also refrain from making any derogatory comment about another coach or team. Poaching A coach shall not directly or indirectly contact any player or his or her family to recruit the player to the coach's team, if the player has already been selected for another team. If a coach does so, or comments on the player's choice of team, the coach can be terminated at the discretion of the Sonoma Soccer Club. At a minimum disciplinary action will be taken and placed in the coach's file. Cost of Second Season When a team chooses to play in another season or another league, while SVYSA has no objection to this, the team does have to pay their own way to sign up for that league. SVYSA will pay the cost of each team's regular season (usually CYSA's fall season), but any team playing a second season (example: winter league or spring league) must cover the cost themselves. This is also true when a team needs a second set of player passes: SVYSA registration fees cover the cost of CYSA passes, but each team playing in US Club must pay for their second set of passes.
